This funder event, held at The Democracy Center at the Japanese American National Museum in LA, explored lessons learned from the movement for redress and repair in the Black American and Japanese American communities and ways in which philanthropy, policymakers and community members can advance efforts to deepen this historic work. Attendees discussed how we can move California towards a culture of repair and dug into the myriad set of issues described in the California Reparations Task Force Final Report as well as the multiracial collaboration, the Alliance for Reparations, Reconciliation, and Truth. The program featured a gallery walk-through with museum facilitators, a cross-community dialogue, an evening reception, and cultural performances.
