About Our 2026 Grantmaking
Black Freedom Fund is investing in the leaders and organizations building power in communities – expanding resources at a moment when our dignity, fundamental rights, and the most vulnerable amongst us are under attack.
Through our 2026 grants, Black Freedom Fund has invested $4.6 million in community organizations across California. This cohort is advancing healing, housing justice, immigration justice, civic engagement, economic equity and more through advocacy, organizing, and long-term movement infrastructure. These organizations are keeping tenants in their homes, fighting for increased wages, protecting immigrants, ensuring students succeed, and advocating for more expansive health services.
Black Freedom Fund’s grantmaking is grounded in a vision for thriving Black communities – communities with the power, resources, and opportunity needed to shape their own futures and build lasting collective power.
From the San Diego to San Joaquin Valley to Northern California, this year’s investments support organizations responding to urgent community needs while helping build a more inclusive, representative, and equitable future across the state.
